St Albans will next month welcome one of the “funniest, jazziest” ukulele bands as The Hot Potato Syncopators waltz into town.

Local community ukulele group Ver Players is hosting its annual charity fund-raising concert in October at the Trinity Church Hall. And this year they are delighted that The Hot Potato Syncopators – virtuosos on the ukulele; experts in whistling, juggling and pure silliness – will be the headline act.

Support will be provided by local groups including Teal and Rag House, and there will also be the usual Ver Players singalongs for everyone to join in with. Proceeds will be going to Sustainable St Albans, a local charity setup by a group of ordinary local people trying to make St Albans District a more environmentally sustainable place to live. A spokesperson from Sustainable St Albans said: “We are thrilled that the Ver Players have chosen our environmental charity for their popular annual event and we are really looking forward to a fun musical night!”

The concert is on Saturday 12th October at the Trinity Church Hall, Beaconsfield Road, St Albans (opposite The Horn), with bar and raffle.

This years chosen charity:

Sustainable St Albans is a local charity setup by a group of ordinary local people trying to make St Albans District a more environmentally sustainable place to live.
“Together we find positive and creative ways to act locally to raise awareness and address the challenges of climate change, live more sustainably and move towards a low-carbon economy. Our biggest project is the Sustainability Festival, and we also run Open Food Gardens, lend out thermal imaging cameras, and support active play through the Playing Out scheme”.
