I thought it may be interesting for the times you have nothing to do, to compare a song on the uke, with the song in it’s original version by the original, if possible artist.

Let’s start with Rockin’ Chair Blues.
    Del Rey.

    Bessie Smith

Dr Jazz Writen by Cole ‘King’ Oliver in 1926

    Phil Doleman

    Jelly Roll Morton

Let The Mermaids Flirt With Me.

    Another Jellyroll Morton, Winin’ Boy

Some of you may have been unfortunate enough to hear my rendition of this at March’s Hare and Hounds meet.
Don’t worry, I’m not going to reprise it, I will leave it in the very capable hands of Phil Doleman.

    Phil Doleman

    Jellyroll Morton.
I have been unable to find a video of him playing this on You Tube, however they have a video of the record playing as it goes around.

Please be aware, if you go looking for recordings of this, you will find the 1939 House of Congress recordings, with explicit lyrics and some mysogeny.
