Early last century musicians

Last Sunday, Norm asked if I was doing a solo, I said yes, he then asked which obscure song I was doing this time.
I thought about this I realised that my choice of early blues and country blues, the artists may be unknown to most people, but these musicians have had an extraordinary impact on music as we know it.
Most of them had an ‘interesting’ life also, working in brothels or being jailed for murder for example.
What I intend to do is post in this thread a little about some of these players, background, and examples of their music, on uke if possible.
I will post the thread with the name of the artist as the subject, feel free to add and comment to the thread.
